2024-11-03 - Dubbed "the most panoramic course in Italy" the Lago Maggiore Marathon, scheduled in Verbania Pallanza (Verbano-Cusio-Ossola), features a half and a full marathon course. The lake itself is worth a trip: it is the second largest lake in Italy and its shoreline are divided between the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy and the Swiss canton of Ticino. Around the lake are many gardens growing rare and exotic plants, such as the Borromean and Brissago islands gardens, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa.

2024-10-13 - A race fit for a king. This is also the translation of Una corsa da re, a half marathon held in the gardens and park grounds of one of the residences of the Royal House of Savoy. The event also features shorter courses - 4k and 10k. Restored to the Baroque magnificence that inspired its construction in the mid-1600s by Duke Carlo Emanuele II of Savoy, the monumental estate of the Reggia di Venaria, located just outside Turin, is included in the Unesco Heritage List and is one of Italy's most visited cultural sites.

2024-09-07 - The trail race La via di Annibale Sky Marathon in Usseglio, near Torino, is the highest running event in Europe, reaching 3305 meters (10,843 feet) of altitude. The course retraces Hannibal's route during the invasion of Italy in 204 bC. The crossing of the Alps with elephants was daunting, to say the least. It involved the mobilization of between 60,000 and 100,000 troops and the training of a war elephant corps, all of which had to be provisioned along the way. The alpine invasion of Italy by Hannibal was a military operation that would shake the Mediterranean world with repercussions for more than two decades.

2024-06-02 - Monferrato, part of the region of Piemonte in Northern Italy, is one of the most famous Italian wine regions in the world, especially regarding red wines and sparkling wines - think Barbera d'Asti, Asti spumante, Moscato d'Asti, Cortese, Malvasia, and Grignolino. The Quattro colli Monferrato held in Camagna features a 15k competitive run and a 7k fun run on a panoramic course through this Unesco World Heritage site. At the end runners will have the possibility of eating at a local restaurant at a special price. Did we mention that Monferrato is also famous for its truffles?

2024-05-19 - Don't be put off by the English title T-Fast 10k. Formerly known as "Tutta dritta" (All straight) this international event in northern Italy is a super-fast 10k in Torino on a beautiful, no-curves boulevard, connecting the historic center of the former Italian capital to the Palazzina di caccia of Stupinigi, the hunting "lodge" that was once one of the residences of the Royal House of Savoy, and today part of the Unesco World Heritage Sites list. The building has a total of 137 rooms and 17 galleries, and covers 31,050 square meters, although its original purpose is symbolized by the bronze deer placed on the top of the roof.

2024-04-14 - As the title of the run indicates, the Brutal Trail in Ghemme, in the northern province of Novara, promises a very tough course. However, participants will not face uphill mountain roads nor rocky forest paths. As a matter of fact, the three featured courses will not go beyond the local vineyard grounds, and participants will run up and down between the rows of vines multiple times (up to forty loops!) depending on the chosen distance. But at the end of this particular running challenge a visit to the cellar and wine tasting will be the well-deserved reward for all finishers.

2019-12-09 - Those who understand the northern Italian dialects would smile when reading the title of the event held in Vigone, near Turin: Ciapa 'l pulast ca scapa via literally means "Catch the runaway chicken". The reason behind this curious 6K night race name lies in the fact that the event official "apripista", the trailblazer who is showing participants the course to follow, is conspicuously dressed as a rooster. All race entrants receive a neon bracelet upon registration, while the final participation prize consists - you should have guessed it - in a chicken.
