Such a great way to see the city
We went on an hour run through Firenze. It was such a great way to see the city and learn some interesting facts.
This morning I went on a running tour in Florence through a company called, Steps in Tuscany. They are a tour company in the city and one of their tours is a run through Florence called "We Like Tuscany".
The tour guide's name was Lapo who is a graduate student and native of Florence. We went on an hour run through the city. We started on the other side of the Arno river and ran around the Duomo and then back over the Arno via the Ponte Vecchio bridge. We continued up a very large hill near Galileo's home. When we got to the top, the views were incredible. We then ran down a road that was used in the Middle Ages as a road that people would travel on to make their way to Florence. It is no longer open for cars to drive on. After, we ran back across the Arno and ran by the Leather Market stalls and saw the "Stone of Shame" in the center where bankrupt merchants would have to sit so people would know not to do business with them. Finally, we ended the tour in the piazza of Santa Maria Novella. It was such a great way to see the city and learn some interesting facts.
